Joplin Schools - Access Control Project

In 2024, TEC completed a large project which included securing over 100 doors across all the schools with electronic access control. Teachers are issues key fobs which allows more granular control of which employees are allowed at each door. This system bolsters the existing security measures already in place for the district.

Dave Pettit - Director of Facilities for the Joplin School District had this to say about the project:

“Our access control project has been long desired for the district. Due to available funding, we were able to do the entire district instead of a scaled approach. Now that the system has been installed and is active, we have found it easy for our staff to make the changeover from mechanical keys to entry fobs. The simplicity for teachers, who typically have their hands full, to enter the building with just a swipe has been well received. We also appreciate the audit feature and the ease of assigning a coach or traveling staff member to multiple sites with a single fob. This security enhancement is paramount to our overall safety protocol in an effort to protect our students and staff.”
